These conditions help produce grapes with ripe fruit concentration while retaining the structure and freshness needed for age-worthy reds.
The estate has built its reputation around Bordeaux varietals and small-scale, hands-on winemaking. Stellekaya follows a restrained cellar approach, using oak to support rather than dominate the wine. The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon reflects this philosophy with a polished, site-driven style that combines power, precision and classic Stellenbosch character.
Colour:
Deep ruby red with youthful brightness and a dense crimson core.
Nose:
Blackcurrant, cassis and ripe plum lead the aromatics, followed by graphite, cedar, dried herbs and a touch of violet.
Palate:
Structured yet refined, with flavours of dark berries, black cherry and subtle tobacco notes. Firm but fine-grained tannins give shape, while fresh acidity keeps the palate focused and energetic. Oak influence adds texture and spice without overwhelming the fruit.
Finish:
Long and dry, finishing with cassis, cedar and savoury spice.
